Stuff happens you know. Just not where you'd think it would. Or where it should?! Anyway, plastery and statistics.

Harmalarm updated his own car for C2, geometry and C2 setup were refined in the process. Where's the soccer car skin?! Topic.

The same individual also ported the Powerslide level Mineshafted to C2, developping gameplay by the addition of powerups and usual C2 gameplay elements. Topic.

The first item from a four-cars-from-Flatout-and-Painkiller C1 pack has been released. It's the firetruck now turned into a RC car with highly advanced weaponry. Tapioca.

SOD personality Turnip has released a beta of his SOD Teams Edition project. You must be a member of OvalBangerChat to access the topics, check the reply to this news billet for the quoted release post.

A little while ago Mastro666 released a Special Edition of C1 at his forum. It's another C1+SP pack with Tinsel Town. Check it out, get a translator as well.

Not really a news, the Carmageddon Wiki is still going on strong. With more than 550 articles it is a very good read for any fan as it covers every game from the Carmageddon franchise. Don't hesitate to contribute as well I guess.

And finaly, just to let you know... the server hosting the whole Tosh network has been verily updated. This is great. Yes it is. Thanks to Celeonet (the hosting company). It is also part of my business now. The whole thing is here to stay.

Some news for those that aren't checking every corner of the area.

Old news first, XNA C1 (OpenC1) blog was updated lately with a cool video depicting newly supported/updated features.

If you never heard about ENB series it is a DX9 hook which enables postprocessing effects such as bloom and occlusion. Combined to glide wrapper dgVoodoo it's possible to use it with C2. A pack is available at Road Reaction (under PC Tools) including configs by ChevyII, Hazardic and myself.

Our very Harmalarm made a new beta of his awesome mod available. Now including DD1 cars and tracks! Topic here.

The banger racing version of General Lee was updated to fit properly within the genre. Destined to SOD gamers, but will spread havoc within C2 all the same free of charge! Topic.

The Hawk II (from Splat Pack) was ported to C2. Using Reg materials to keep the unfiltered and full lit C1 rendering. Don't miss the readme. Topic.

[edit] Also keep an eye on the next XnView version. I've been in contact with the author to improve the BRender PIX format support. Things will be better in the next release thus. [/edit]

Stuffings (wut turkey?) have been added to ModDB:

smile  Argonaut, they made the BRender engine!
yikes  The BRender engine, Stainless bought it!
sad  Stainless Games, they made Carmageddon!
surprised  Carmageddon 2, we make mods for it!
wink  BBQ C2, it's one of our C2 mods!
cool  DD2C2TC, it's another promising C2 mod of ours!

Proper web2.0 pages for our mods and thus promote the Carmageddon series and community?   Hard sci-fi.

Hax updated 3D Ripper DX again to version 1.8.

Here's the changelog:

- DirectX 6 support (beta);
- 3ds Max 2011 [Design] plugins;
- 3ds Max 2009 plugins;
- 3ds Max 2010 [Design] 64-bit plugin;

We all know a DX6 game for sure and it is C2! Here's a good list of DX6 games.
This could be a good way for anybody to port into C1/C2 a car/level from another game from the same era.
Let's wait for DX7, that's what's needed to let us bring TDR2000 Hell, 1920s, Docks... into C2! Or convert some awesome TDR addon cars.

Edit: 3D Ripper DX was updated to 1.8.1, an increased stability update that is.

Good news for all those who like to do some beta testing. I have uploaded a testversion of the mod hosted on the mod's personal website which will follow after reading the instuctions below

The website is still under construction, but files are ready to be tested. The package includes the complete game, e.g.; all models, maps, textures, menu's, sounds and executables. So no need for installing it over a clean c2 install, this is a stand alone package.

How this will work:

This testversion is a principle final version. I'd like to think of it as contentready. This means I will not work on the cars and track models. The setup however, the txt file editing, is not done. The txt files define the games behaviour and this is what I need you guys to check for me.

What I need you to do is look for;

- bugs
what is the bug and where is it occuring. Did you find a way to solve it, and how did you do this. Does the game crash at times? I didn't find any crashes at all, but perhaps you guys are more unlucky.

- check the physics
does the car behave correctly. Does it feel right. What is missing in terms of handling, physics. I am interesting in your personal oppinions.

- gameplay.
The mod is big so I didn't have any time to test whether the time runs out too quickly on the races. Can you complete all races without cheats, and are they properly setup?
is the game too easy to win for example. Are the opponents agressive enough?

-LAN play
perhaps some of you can test the LAN gameplay. I don't have acces to two machines all the time, so I'm not able to test this myself thoroughly. Does it crash? do all game modes work?

-cutscenes and UDP
I've noticed the game doesnt load correctly when using the UDP launcher combined with the custom cutscenes, so I've made them optional. I would like you guys to put the CUTSCENE folder in the data folder and run the udp laucher. Does it work correctly on your system?

Where to post?
I'd like you guys to post your comments in the current dd22c2tc topic: http://devwam.toshiba-3.com/viewtopic.php?id=334. If you find problems and post them MAKE IT CLEAR. Explain the situation and the problem in a clear, detailed way. Adding your system specs if needed might be nice. I've been testing this mod on windows Vista 32bit, using zeckenacks glide wrapper and the Nglide wrapper. (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo, T57...

Vehicular grab-bag!
Three mid-sized '73 Pontiacs: a base LeMans, GTO and Grand Am.
Three "Twisted Metal" relics replicated: Sweet Tooth, Darkside and Pit Viper.

All items feature dashboard views with animated steering wheels (not just the hands) as well as analog speedometers and tachs (on the Pontiacs, that is).

Many Thanks to Toshiba for his excellent custom PIX file tutorial (among other things)!

Place for to gets!

One month later, here are some news from the Carmageddon side of life.

C2Scientist's website is finaly back! Here be address!
Thanks to him for putting it back up.

Jeff's still working hard on his OpenCarmageddon and lately implemented deformation using the original C1 crush datas. While he was at it he posted the specs of these crush datas. While it should theorically be possible to write down these crush datas manually now, I guess we'll wait for a program to help us anyway yikes

And finaly a lot of people were saddened noticing GeoCities disappeared for good. A lot of Carmageddon websites were hosted there as well.
Well you'll be relieved to read that ReoCities backed up most of GeoCities websites. All the websites aren't available yet but some are.
Check Wally Waffle's C1 page for example.
Links page at RR2000 and here in devWAM were updated accordingly.
